$3,600.00

“IN THE VALLEY OF HOODOO’S”

37.62224° N, 112.16587° W

Acrylic on raw canvas

Framed in Oak

30” x 40”

——

Description:

“Slender rock spires

that stand like sentinal kings

So grand yet so fair.”

Inspired by the High Desert of Bryce Canyon, this piece draws from the enchanting presence of hoodoos—tall, thin rock spires shaped by centuries of erosion. The term “hoodoo” is derived from “voodoo,” a fitting nod to the almost mystical energy these formations exude.

This peice was a part of The Space Between: Paintings from the Canyon to the Coast

Artist Statment for Collection:

There is a place we go when we don’t want to be found. It’s a space between the old and the new. The space between the city lights and the highways, the darkness of the canyons, and the river beds. A place that has felt like home to me for so long that I forgot it was lonely. But with loneliness comes imagination, and silence sparks creativity. You see, intellectually, “the space between” can feel quite trite, but in its physical form, as reflected in nature, it can be a beautiful and inspired experience.

I took a trip across many miles; I saw the sand dunes and waterfalls, hoodoos, and moonstone beaches. I did not know it at the time, but with every stop, a part of this story was written, and moments became brush strokes. I had not realized how lost I had become within myself. I too had found my way to this empty space in time. A sort of version of myself that was uncertain of what path to take forward. It took a trip from the canyons to the coast and back again to show me the way.

This collection is an ode to my time on the road. A visual haiku of sorts. A colorful documentation of places and feelings that define a new chapter of life.            This is -- The Space              Between where you are and where you are going.
