The 1986 VALentine — The Magazine

Welcome to 1986 VALentine — The Magazine! A little look book, a lot of feeling, and your unofficial guide to getting in the mood for the weekend ahead. Part inspiration, part nostalgia, part love letter to rom-com romance, this magazine is meant to be flipped through slowly as you get ready — while picking outfits, planning looks, and pressing play.

Inside you’ll find prom-night pinks, puffed sleeves, dessert dreams, a curated playlist, and all the visual cues that set the tone for our Valentine’s escape. Think of it as your pre-weekend ritual: something to skim, smile at, listen along to, and maybe screenshot for later.

Click to view — then turn up the music, grab your gloss, and let the magazine do what it does best: get you ready to twirl, toast, and step fully into the 1986 state of mind.

Please let us know if you’ll be joining us.
A curated lookbook with full details, weekend timelines, and a few surprises will be sent after RSVP.

FOR THE OUT OF TOWNERS…

Where to Stay — 1986 Valentine’s Weekend Escape

Getting here is easy. Fly into Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) for the smoothest arrival — it’s small, calm, and just about 20 minutes from Palm Beach and Delray. Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is another great option, about 45 minutes away, with more flight choices if you need them.

When booking accommodations, we recommend looking in downtown Delray Beach first — it’s walkable, close to the water, and full of great restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques. Other lovely options include south coastal Boynton Beach / Gulf Stream or coastal Boca Raton. Below are a few hotel favorites, plus an Airbnb list I’ve put together for those who prefer a more home-base vibe.

Downtown Delray Beach ($$)

Easy, central, and close to everything.

Boca Raton ($$)

Great option if you’re staying a bit south.

Boca Raton ($$$)

Near the Beach ($$$)

For ocean views, slow mornings, and full vacation mode.

Vintage Shopping Guide ✨

To make getting dressed for the weekend easy (and fun), I’ve put together a curated shopping list on Depop filled with vintage and secondhand finds that perfectly match the ’80s / ’90s rom-com, Sweethearts Dance vibe — think prom nostalgia, heartthrob energy, and effortless throwback style.

If you’re new to Depop, here’s how it works: it’s a resale marketplace where most listings are open to offers. Prices are often listed a bit higher than what sellers expect to receive, so don’t be intimidated.

Pro tips for shopping Depop:

  • Heart your favorite items — sellers will often send you a discounted offer automatically.

  • You can counteroffer if you want to negotiate a bit further.

  • It’s totally normal (and encouraged) to haggle politely — that’s part of the fun.

  • Vintage Sizing is smaller! Sometimes up to 2 sizes smaller, go by measurements.

The goal is to find something you feel great in without overthinking it. Have fun browsing, trust your instincts, and lean into the nostalgia 🤍
